About Wellfield Stud

The Wellfield stud started life in 1997 with just two mares, today we have over twenty five mares and stand two stallions on our modern and purpose built facilities. In the last five years we have improved our breeding stock by importing carefully selected American blood lines. Investing in mares by Falcon Seelster, Pacific Fella, Precious Bunny, Albratross, On the Road Again, Beach Towel, Jet Laag, Western Hanover and Jate Lobell has built up our current broodmare band. We have also sort to add some variety to our breeding program with four New Zealand bred mares by Vance Hanover, Nestor Hanover and Macatross. We are always striving to improve our blood lines and will continue to do so in the future.

In recent years we have stood some of the best stallions to stand in the UK including Todays Man, Sure Cam and Churchill King. We are currently standing Stud Muffin and our latest stallion Village Connection – winner of over $1.6m.

The Wellfield Stud is ideally situated midway between Newport and Chepstow on the A48, just off the M4. The 125 acre farm boasts excellent facilities with ample paddocks and grazing, 24 hour surveillance cover of the breeding sheds and four closed circuited foaling boxes.

We will continue to strive to improve our facilities further over the coming years and plan to try and open a training facility in the very near future.
